Learn to Play Craps

Despite the apparent complexity of the gaming board, it’s easy to learn to play craps. What you really have to learn before playing the game itself are the dice rolls. The game is played in rounds of dice rolls, with each round beginning with a ‘come out roll.’ The player rolling the dice is called the ‘shooter.’ If, on the come out roll, a 7, 11, 2, 3 or 12 is rolled, then the round ends immediately. If a 7 or 11 has been rolled, this is known as a ‘win’ or a ‘natural.’ Meanwhile a result of 2, 3 or 12 is known as ‘craps’. Any other number rolled (4,5,6,8,9 or 10) is known as the point; if a point is rolled then the shooter must continue rolling until the same point is rolled, or if a 7 is rolled.

Types of bet

Players can make a large number of bets, such as how the round will end, or a specific number being rolled. In order to roll, the shooter must bet on either the pass line or don’t pass.

Pass line/don’t pass: The fundamental bet in craps is the pass line bet and is crucial to if you want to learn to play craps well. You can bet for or against the pass. A pass bet is one by the shooter rolling an initial 7 or 11, or, if they roll a point, that same point number must be rolled again before a 7 is rolled. In the event that you bet against the pass, you hope for a craps roll, which is either a 2 or 3, or, in the event of a point, the failure of the shooter to get the same point before he rolls a 7. 12 counts as a draw.
Come/don’t come: The rule for this type of wager is the same for a pass line bet, but they are made only after the come out roll. You can place your chips into the ‘come’ area of the board, or on one of the point numbers at the top. Basically, if you roll a pass number and your chips are in the come area, then the point number will be selected by the dice and the chips moved to the appropriate number.

Single and multi roll bets: Craps is a game where you have a diverse range of betting options, and you can bet on the outcome of single rolls, or a number of multi roll, or accumulative, bets. Most of the single roll bets are located to the side of the game board, while the multi roll bets are recommended for more experienced players.

Now you’ve learnt the basics of craps you’ll be ready to head to the gaming board!
